A 4 year old can go to the bathroom alone at home but in public the 4 year old should be accompanied into the bathroom unless it's a single use bathroom.

The age that a child can go to the bathroom alone is by age 3 when at home.

In public a child should not go to the bathroom alone until they are at least 5 years old as it can be unsafe.

However a 3 year old should be able to go into a stall by themselves but a parent should remain in the bathroom itself with them.

The age that a mom should stop showering with her son is 8 to 9 years old.

By 8 to 9 years old most kids will want their privacy and sometimes sooner depending on the child.

Kids should start showering daily by age 5 or when they start attending school as they need to be clean for school.

Kids even below 5 tend to get dirty a lot and will require a shower or bath daily to stay clean.

Once the child hit's puberty and starts having more body odor then they should shower daily and sometimes twice daily.

A 5 year old should shower daily and especially on school days as the 5 year old may have body odor and should always be kept clean before school.

5 year olds typically get pretty dirty and need showers or baths daily to stay clean.

The age that you stop sibling baths is by 9 years of age although some kids want to stop sibling baths by age 6 to 7.

However 9 years is the limit on bathing siblings together because they are entering their tween years and would want personal space.

Things you should not do when bathing a child are.

Don't leave the child unattended when they are under 5 years of age and if they are under 6 you should check up on them to be sure they are safe.

Don't get distracted when bathing your child and don't answer the door or talk on the phone when bathing the child.

Be sure the bath toys are safe and check the water temperature before bathing your child to prevent burns.

Drowning occurs quickly and quietly.

The best way to keep your child safe in the bathtub is to provide constant supervision.

For infants and young toddlers, this means you should keep a hand on them at all times during the entire bath.

A 5 and 6 year old should be able to shower themselves or bathe themselves.

However some 5 and 6 year olds and especially boys may refuse to shower or bathe or act like they showered or bathe and not actually do so.

So sometimes you need to help the 6 year old bathe or shower to ensure they get clean but most 6 year olds can shower or bathe independently as long as they have no disabilities.

It is not OK to not wash your child as not washing or cleaning or keeping your child clean is neglect.

As long as you keep the child clean and wash them daily or if they are old enough you can allow them to wash themselves then it's not neglect.

Being dirty as a child is not neglect but not keeping them clean at the end of the day is neglect.

A dirty child is not neglect as long as they are showering or bathing daily to get clean after becoming dirty and as long as the child is changing clothes.

Kids get dirty and being dirty itself is not neglect of a child.

However leaving the child dirty and not changing their clothes or showering them or bathing them or allowing them to shower or bathe or not allowing them to change into clean clothes daily is child neglect.

When I was a kid people would report my parents to CPS due to me and my brothers being dirty and wearing dirty clothes.

However we were just getting dirty as we played in the dirt and mud and would get dirty as kids should and do.

We always would change clothes at the end of the day or sometimes sooner if we were really muddy and would shower or bathe.

My parents always kept us clean after getting dirty and would always provide us with clean clothes.

The CPS never found any neglect but it was awful having them show up at our house and us having to talk to them.

Just make sure your child is clean at the end of the day and not allow them to stay in the same dirty clothes for longer than the day and wash their clothes and shower or bathe them daily or allow them to shower and bathe daily.

Keep the child or children fed and healthy and keep a decently clean and tidy house and you will do fine.
