Pain from the spleen will feel like fullness or a sharp or dull pain in your left upper belly which can spread to your left shoulder.

The feeling of fullness without eating or after eating a small amount is because the spleen is pressing on the stomach.

An enlarged spleen does not always cause symptoms but some people experience some pain or fullness feeling.

Spleen pain can also often be felt as a pain behind your left ribs.

It may be tender when you touch the area.

This can be a sign of a damaged, ruptured or enlarged spleen.

The symptoms of a damaged spleen include.

Pain in the upper left stomach.
Tenderness when you touch the upper left stomach.
Left shoulder pain.
Confusion, lightheadedness or dizziness.

If your spleen is ruptured it requires medical attention promptly or it can be life threatening.

A ruptured spleen can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Treatment options for a ruptured spleen vary depending on the severity of the condition and can include rest and observation, surgical repair, or splenectomy.

Recovery from a ruptured spleen can take anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks.

A splenectomy may be done to ease the symptoms of an enlarged spleen, which include pain and a feeling of fullness.

Blood disorders that may be treated with splenectomy include idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, polycythemia vera and thalassemia.
