If you plan to use a pacifier for your baby that's okay but you really should start breaking the child of the pacifier habit by age 1 year.

A child really doesn't need a pacifier past age 1 and if the child continues to use a pacifier past age 1 then they risk having overbites or crooked teeth.

Long term pacifier use can also caused speech problems and speech delays.

If you do let your child have a pacifier longer than 1 year of age then it should most certainly be taken away from the child and the child should stop using the pacifier before age 4 years.
