Anbesol takes like a cool, and slightly medicated mint.

Although Anbesol is marketed as being a mint flavor, some people also describe the taste of Anbesol as being more of a cherry taste instead of a mint taste.

Anbesol is made to numb the areas that it is applied to, so the taste of the anbesol is more of a secondary consideration.

Anbesol gel contains benzocaine which is a local anesthetic or numbing medication.

Anbesol works to numb the area by blocking the nerve signals in your body.

Anbesol gel numbs your skin or surfaces inside your mouth and is used in the temporary relief of pain from sore throats, canker sores, fever, minor irritation, blisters or even injury of your mouth and gums.

You should avoid swallowing anbesol although if you happen to swallow a small amount it's unlikely to cause any harm.

However you may get some side effects such as upset stomach which can be severe especially in children.

Anbesol can also cause a rare but serious blood issue called methemoglobinemia.

Anbesol is fast acting and works as soon as it's applied.

To apply anbesol you should use a cotton swab to dab the Anbesol onto the pain points and the pain should go away within seconds of applying the anbesol.
