When you smell like mackerel or have body odor of mackerel it means you have a condition called TMAU or Trimethylaminuria.

The condition trimethylaminuria is an uncommon condition that causes you to smell fishy.

Sometimes trimethylaminuria is caused by genes that are faulty which you inherit from your parents although it can also be caused by other things.

There's no cure for trimethylaminuria although you can manage the odor.

If you're experiencing a strong vaginal odor that smells like a dead fish, it may be a sign of bacterial vaginosis (BV) or trichomoniasis.

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection and is another possible explanation for a strong fishy vaginal odor.

In some cases eating fish including mackerel can give you a fishy smell.

To help with a mackerel smell or fishy smell on your body start by showering more regularly and washing your body with antibacterial soap.

Shower regularly and only use mild, unscented soap and warm water to clean your vulva.

Bathe and put on a clean outfit shortly after exercising so that you're not sitting for too long in hot, sweaty clothes or a damp swimsuit.

Warm and wet environments are ideal places for harmful bacteria growth.

You can also use spray deodorant on your body to help get rid of the fishy or mackerel odor.
