Why does liver disease cause itchy skin?

When you have liver disease the liver then causes an increase in the blood levels of colored pigment known as bilirubin which is normally secreted by your liver cells.

When that happens it causes bile products to be deposited into your skin which causes the intense itching of a persons skin when they have liver disease.
