To learn to take off and land a plane by yourself takes from 10 to 20 hours of flight training and then to get your pilots license and be able to take off and land a plane by yourself without supervision or an instructor takes between 40 to 80 hours and sometimes even longer of flight training.
You only need a college degree to fly commercial airlines but just to fly your own private plane you only need your pilots license.
