A diastolic murmur is a heart murmur that is heard during diastole, i.e. they start at or after S2 and end before or at S1.

Many diastolic murmurs involve stenosis of the atrioventricular valves or regurgitation of the semilunar valves.

Diastolic murmurs occur during heart muscle relaxation between beats.

Diastolic murmurs are caused by the narrowing (stenosis) of the mitral or tricuspid valves, or regurgitation of the aortic or pulmonary valves.

Continuous murmurs occur throughout the cardiac cycle.

The murmur that has a click is mitral Valve Prolapse which may be detected by listening with a stethoscope, revealing a "click" noise that is created by the stretched flaps snapping against each other during contraction and/or a murmur.

People with mitral valve prolapse may have a mid-systolic click along with a murmur, referred to as apical late systolic murmur.

Early systolic clicks may also be present in some people.

Aortic and pulmonary stenosis may cause an ejection click immediately after S1.

A heart murmur will cause you to feel weak or tired and cause you to be short of breath, especially when exercising, cause chest pain, skipping heartbeat, and or a fast and or pounding heartbeat.

Many heart murmurs don't need any treatment and aren't a cause for concern.

But if a murmur is caused by a more serious condition, you may need.

Medications, such as iron to correct anemia or drugs to slow the thyroid gland.

Surgery to correct or replace a valve.

When you have a heart murmur you should eat heart-healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, lean meats, and low-fat or non-fat dairy foods.

Limit sodium, sugars, and alcohol and get some exercise as well if you're not exercising already.

A heart murmur is a blowing, whooshing, or rasping sound that is heard during a heartbeat.

The sound with a heart murmur is caused by turbulent (rough) blood flow through the heart valves or near the heart.

Some heart murmurs are harmless (innocent).

An innocent heart murmur is not a sign of heart disease and doesn't need treatment.

Other heart murmurs may be a sign of a serious heart condition.

Tests are needed to check the heart and heart valves.

Many heart murmurs don't need any treatment and aren't a cause for concern.

But if a murmur is caused by a more serious condition, you may need medications, such as iron to correct anemia or drugs to slow the thyroid gland or surgery to correct or replace a valve.
