Toilet paper can throw off your pH balance and disrupt your vaginal pH balance.

Toilet paper that contains fragrances, dyes and other chemicals can irritate skin that is sensitive and disrupt your natural pH.

When your natural pH is disrupted it can make it easier for yeast and bacteria to overgrow.

And bleaching agents in toilet paper can also leave residue behind which can also irritate the delicate vaginal mucosa and disrupt your pH.

Other factors that can disrupt a woman's vaginal pH balance include antibiotics, sex lubricants, certain sexual practices and even menstrual blood as well as some soaps and detergents.

High sugar diets, stress, hormonal fluctuations and the use of harsh soaps and douches an also throw your pH balance off.

And because semen is alkaline it can temporarily raise vaginal pH, especially during sexual intercourse.

Some medications also have the ability to throw off your pH balance as well.
