When poop smears when you wipe it can be a result of high fat intake, not enough fiber intake, fecal incontinence, anal fissures and even hemorrhoids.
Having loose stools can result from insufficient fiber or even Irritable bowel syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis or even Crohn's disease.
These conditions can make it more difficult to wipe properly and make it difficult to clean your anal area effectively enough.
Inadequate fiber intake and hemorrhoids and anal fissures are the most common reasons for having poop smear when you wipe.
Hemorrhoids and anal fissures can cause pain and bleeding along with making it difficult to wipe properly and lead to poop smearing.
In the beginning of hemorrhoids and anal fissures you may not have any pain and only poop smearing but sometimes the pain may also occur at the same time.
Low fiber intake can lead to loose stools and make it easier for your poop to smear and could even leave residue of poop un your underwear.
A high fat intake can also lead to sticky poop which is more prone to smearing.
Even some medications like opioids can lead to constipation and make your poop harder to pass and could also lead to poop smearing when you wipe.
And fecal incontinence can also lead to accidental stool leakage and cause poop to smear when you wipe or any other time.
If you continue to have poop smearing when you wipe you should see a doctor and have it checked out.
To help manage any smearing of poop when you wipe and other wiping issues you should increase your fiber intake and eat more fiber rich foods such as vegetables, whole grains and fruits and drink plenty of water which helps to soften your poop and make your poop easier to pass.
Using a bidet or wet wipes can also help make it easier to clean up when you have poop that smears and avoid straining when pooping as straining can make hemorrhoids worse if you have them.
