You can keep getting ingrown toenails due to feet perspiring more or cutting the nails too short or rounding the corners and not keeping the feet clean and dry.

The length of time it takes for an ingrown toenail to grow out is 2 to 12 weeks.

To fix an ingrown toenail at home you can soak your feet in some warm soapy water or Epsom salt for 10 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a day.

Then place cotton or dental floss under the toenail and eventually the ingrown toenail will go away.

After soaking the ingrown toenail in the warm soapy water or Epsom salt you can also push the skin back from the nail border and then cut the ingrown toenail straight across starting at the edges of the toenail.

You can numb your toe to remove an ingrown toenail by using a numbing spray or numbing cream.

You can also soften the ingrown toenail using some Epsom salt which also helps to ease pain and swelling.

A podiatrist removes and ingrown toenail through surgery which can be a nail avulsion that removes your whole toenail or a wedge excision that removes part of the toenail where the ingrown toenail grows into the skin along with the area of tissue that is in the corner where the toenail grows in.

The cost to remove an ingrown toenail ranges from $250.00 to $500.00 depending on your location.

The best antibiotic for an infected ingrown toenail is ampicillin, amoxicillin and vancomycin.

An infected ingrown toenail will look like an overgrowth or presence of inflamed tissues around the edges of the ingrown toenail.

Other signs of an infected ingrown toenail are yellowing, thick or cracked toenails with fungus infections and or an abscess filled with puss that is located where the jagged edge of the ingrown toenail is puncturing your skin.

If you leave an infected ingrown toenail it can spread to the bone below and infect the bone and you can also get gangrene which is death and even decay of tissue.

To cut out a deep ingrown toenail first start by soaking your feet in some Epsom Salt or even Castile soap for 30 minutes which softens the ingrown toenail.

Then wash your hands and push the skin back from the toenail border.

Next cut the ingrown toenail straight across and start at the toenail edges.

You can drain pus from an ingrown toenail by soaking your feet in some Epsom Salt and warm water which helps to draw out the pus and soften the toenail.

Ingrown toenail surgery is not painful as you'll be given an local anesthetic to numb the area so you will not feel any pain during the ingrown toenail surgery.

Soaking your feet in Epsom salt or using some hydrogen peroxide or Ingrown toenail cream helps to kill the ingrown toenail.

Change your socks often and cut the toenails straight across to stop them from digging into the surrounding skin.

An ingrown toenail cannot and will not fix itself and can actually get worse without treatment.

You should treat the ingrown toenail at home and if it does not go away or gets infected you should see a doctor about it.

Hydrogen peroxide does help ingrown toenail by killing infection and bacteria and by softening the skin around the ingrown toenail.

The antibiotics that treat ingrown toenails are vancomycin, amoxicillin and ampicillin.

Doctors treat ingrown toenails through surgery and partial avulsion of the lateral edge of the toenail and then followed by a chemical matricectomy using between 80 to 88 percent phenol.

There is a cream for ingrown toenails that works wonderfully called Dr. Scholl's Ingrown Toenail cream and pain reliever.

You can also apply some Neosporin cream to the ingrown toenail which also works well.

Vaseline or other petroleum jelly does help ingrown toenails as it can protect the ingrown toenail from infection and bacteria.

You should also cover the ingrown toenail with a bandage after applying some Vaseline or other antibiotic ointment.

Older people get ingrown toenails as the toenails become thicker as you age.

Ingrown toenails also usually become infected in people that have circulation problems or diabetes.

The vitamin deficiency that causes ingrown toenails are iron, zinc, D3, C and B12 deficiency.

These vitamins are essential in developing strong toenails that are strong enough to avoid being ingrown.

If an ingrown toenail goes untreated it can become infected and worsen and spread to the bone.

In most cases you can treat and get rid of an ingrown toenail at home but if you notice signs of infection of the ingrown toenail you should see a doctor or podiatrist about it.

If an ingrown toenail is left untreated it can become infected and worsen and spread to the bone.

If your ingrown toenail is already infected or you see signs of pus or red inflammation you should see a doctor or podiatrist.

The cream that is best for ingrown toenails is Neosporin also known as polymyxin/neomycin.

You can also treat ingrown toenails by soaking your feet in warm soapy water and also by applying the Neosporin.

A Stage 3 ingrown toenail will usually have even more severe redness and swelling, be very painful, and be accompanied by an overgrowth of skin around the toenail.

More severe infection and a fever may follow.
