When a clutch is slipping it usually means the clutch plate and disc is worn out and not causing the clutch plate to create enough friction with the flywheel to allow the transmission and engine to turn together when the clutch is engaged.
Another cause of a clutch slipping can be oil or some other residue getting onto the clutch friction plate somehow.
