How quickly the liver heals depends on the cause of the liver damage and the severity of the liver damage.

Most minor liver damage like from viral infections or alcohol intoxication often heal within a few weeks to a couple of months or so.

Moderate liver damage like from chronic hepatitis or fatty liver disease can take several months to a year to heal.
