A 7 year old should be able to do lots of things independently such as showering or bathing, getting dressed and even preparing simple meals.
A 7 year old should also be able to independently use the toilet, flush the toilet, put on shoes, tie shoes, make their bed, put clothes away, help with cleanup and even read a menu at a restaurant or order their own food.
7 year olds should be able to get themselves dressed, tie their shoes, bathe and shower without needing supervision, brush their teeth, wash their hands, prepare simple meals such as sandwiches, snacks, cereal, pack their own lunch, put away their clothes. help with simple cleanup like putting away dishes and picking up toys, help with chores like setting the table or washing dishes.
A 7 year old should also be able to write short sentences and paragraphs, read and understand simple text, attend some extracurricular activities independently and navigate a school environment, including finding their classroom and locker.
Other things that a 7 year old should be able to do independently are understand how to tell time and identify the days of the week, express emotions and describe what has happened, start learning about fractions and money concepts and learn and practice basic math skills such as addition, subtraction and counting.
The 7 year old should also be able to go for short walks with a friend or dog, ride a bicycle independently and pay cashiers when shopping with permission and read a children's menu and order their own food.
Some 7 year olds may also be able to do laundry as well.
My 7 year old son does his own laundry and loves to operate the washing machine so I let him and he does a good job.
