Dihydrochloride also known as Levocetirizine (Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride) is an anti-allergic medicine that comes in the category of second-generation anti-histamine medicines.

The medicine dihydrochloride helps in reducing the effects produced by histamine, which is a natural chemical present in the body.

Dihydrochloride is a compound that is formed from a reaction between an organic base and two hydrochloric acid molecules.

Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride is the dihydrochloride salt form of the active levorotatory enantiomer of cetirizine, levocetirizine; a third generation, non-sedating, selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist, with antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and potential anti-angiogenic activities.

The drug dihydrochloride is used to treat various allergic conditions such as hay fever, conjunctivitis, some skin reactions such as eczema, hives, and reactions to bites and stings.

Dihydrochloride also relieves watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching.

Both Xyzal (levocetirizine) and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) are oral antihistamines that help alleviate allergy symptoms.

They both work by blocking histamines which are naturally released when your body detects an allergen such as pollen, pet dander, ragweed or dust.

Side effects of dihydrochloride include drowsiness, tiredness, and dry mouth.

Fever or cough may also occur in people taking dihydrochloride, especially in children.

LINE SYRUP ( LEVOCETIRIZINE ) is used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, and sneezing.

It is also used to relieve itching and hives. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

Levocetirizine is a potent antihistamine as demonstrated by its ability to inhibit cutaneous histamine-induced itching and the wheal and flare reaction.

For oral dosage form (levocetirizine dihydrochloride solution): Adults and children older than 2 years of age—5 milligrams (mg) or 10 milliliters (mL) (1 teaspoon) once a day taken in the evening.

Children 6 months to 2 years of age—At first, 1.25 mg or 2.5 mL (1/2 teaspoon) once a day taken in the evening.
