In June of 2023 a sinkhole opened up in Ocala Florida in the 500 block of SE 28th Place.

And heavy rainfall and periods of drought can also lead to sinkhole formation and long term weather condition like heavy acidic rains and drought like conditions also increase the risk of sinkholes developing.
While sinkholes can also occur in anywhere in Florida, the highest activity level of sinkholes and the part of Florida that gets the most sinkholes is west central Florida due to the karst limestone environment.
