What happens to your body at 80 years old is several structural and physiological changes will occur within your body.

The changes within your body and to your body that occur at 80 years old can vary depending on your current health, genetics and lifestyle.

Some physical changes that occur at 80 and sometimes before are decreased muscle strength and decreased muscle mass which is also called sarcopenia and is the loss of muscle tissue which can lead to reduced mobility and frality.

Reduced bone density can also occur at 80 or before and is also known as osteoporosis and can make your bones more brittle and prone to fractures.

Stiff joints, reduced, height, graying hair and wrinkled skin can also occur at 80 sometimes before.

Arthritis and other joint conditions can cause pain and limit your range of motion and compression of your spine can cause a slight decrease in your height and loss of collagen and elastin can cause wrinkles, age spots and increased susceptibility to skin tears and hair follicles produce less pigment as you age and result in white hair or gray hair.

At age 80 or as you age your heart may become less efficient at pumping blood and blood vessels may also get stiffer and lung capacity may also decrease and breathing may become more shallow and the stomach may produce less acid and your intestines may also become less efficient at absorbing nutrients, brain cells may decline in number and nerve conduction may even slow down.

And hormone production may also change and cause conditions such as hypothyroidism and menopause.

As you get older and reach 80 your risk of developing chronic conditions like cancer, stroke, heart disease and dementia also increase with age and your immune system become less effective in fighting infections and you may have decreased vision and hearing.

Staying active can help you keep healthy at 80 and beyond and can in some cases allow you to maintain your muscle mass and muscle strength.
