A person with one eye would be called "one eyed" however saying that could come off a rude.

In medical terms a person with one eye is known has having "monocular vision" and is partially sighted or partially blind which are more acceptable ways of saying it to someone with one eye.

You can drive a car with only one eye as long as the vision in the one eye you have is good enough to see and you can pass a vision test with the one eye.

When you have one eye it can cause you emotional distress as well as some physical challenges, including learning and navigating your surroundings as you will have some reduced vision.

You may also have some social challenges, like trouble interacting with others the way that you used too.

With one eye you can get used to seeing pretty good but you will need to move your head to the side without the eye to see better in that direction.

A friend of mine has one eye as he lost vision in his right eye and at first he struggled but now he's able to function good and says it doesn't bother him anymore and he even still drives with the one eye.

You can legally drive in all 50 states including the District of Columbia with only one eye as long as your vision in the one eye you have is good enough and meets the legal standards where you can pass the vision test.

You can also be partially blind in both eyes or one eye and can either have trouble seeing out both eyes or even have trouble seeing out one eye and be able to see okay out the other eye.

Being partially blind is referred to having low vision and means that you retain some of your vision although the vision is significantly impaired and it can be difficult to correct the vision with glasses or the use of contact lenses.

When you're completely blind you cannot see anything from either eye and you can also be blind completely in one eye and see out of your other eye.

To qualify as being partially blind, your eyesight must fall into one of the following categories when you're wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses that you may need which is a visual acuity of 3/60 to 6/60 with a full field of vision.

The numbers in vision mean your visual acuity, which is how clearly you can see at a distance when compared to how someone with normal vision can see.

20/20 vision you have great and normal vision and the 20 indicates how far or the distance you can see the object or eye chart and the second number which may be different from 20 means the distance in which a person with normal vision can see the same objects or letters.

For example 20/20 means you can see at 20 feet the same as others who have 20/20 vision.

Having 20/40 vision means that you can see at 20 feet what someone with normal vision can see at 40 feet.

20/10 vision means you can see at 20 feet what someone with normal vision can see at 10 feet.

And 20/100 means you can see something at 20 feet what someone with normal vision can see at 100 feet.

The smaller the second number is the better your vision is and the higher second number means your vision is not as good as normal vision and 20/20 vision is normal or average vision.

A .75 eye prescription means you have a mild refractive error, which can be nearsightedness or farsightedness depending on if it has a negative symbol or positive symbol next to it.

A positive +.75 means you have farsightedness in which your eye struggles to focus on nearby objects and a negative or -.75 means you have nearsightedness, in which the eye struggles to focus on distant objects.

0.75 eyesight can be cured through surgery but there's no other option for curing the eyesight unless through surgery such as laser eye surgery or LASIk eye surgery.

Having a 0.75 eyesight means that you have a mild degree of nearsightedness and means you can see objects clearly at close distances, but have difficulty in seeing distant objects.

Having a vision of 0.75 is mild and does not always require corrective lenses for most activities.

LASIk eye surgery can reshape your cornea and correct your vision.

+0.75 for eyesight and glasses means that you have mild farsightedness that is also known as hyperopia and requires that you have a lens with +0.75 diopter power to correct your vision and especially for near objects.

The "SPH" value or sphere value also represents the eyeglasses lens power that is needed to correct your vision, whether it's farsightedness or nearsightedness.

The number on eye prescription means the strength of the lens that is needed to correct your vision which is measured in diopters and represents a mild refractive error which can be nearsightedness or farsightedness or even astigmatism.

After zero, the eye prescription numbers increase by quarters, such as 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75 and the lower number indicates and means a lower lens power and a higher number indicates a higher lens power.

0.50 for glasses means the diopter value which represents a vary mild range of myopia or nearsightedness or hyperopia "farsightedness" correction is needed which the glasses with 50 on them is for.

A positive sign with the 50 on the glasses means farsightedness and a negative sign with the 50 on the glasses means nearsightedness.

An 0 means no correction is needed for the eye.

CYL or "cylinder" indicates the level of astigmatism, which is a condition in which your eye does not focus light evenly and is also measured in diopters.

The CYL number is often accompanied by an axis number and indicates the orientation of the astigmatism and diopters are the unit of measurement for the refractive power of a lens and the higher the diopter value is the stronger the correction is needed.

Normal vision is 6/6 in meters and 20/20 in feet.

Your eyesight can get worse due to eye strain, aging, genetics and medications or medical conditions.

As you age, your eyesight can naturally get worse and genetics, eye strain and not eating healthy can also lead to eyesight becoming worse.

Potential causes of rapid eyesight deterioration or unilateral changes include, cataracts, age related macular degeneration and diabetes and diabetes related issues.

Not protecting your eyes from the sunlight and reading in low light conditions or staring at a computer screen to much or phone screen to much, especially in the dark can also strain your eyes and make your eyesight get worse.

LASIK or LASEK eye surgery can reshape your cornea and improve your vision so that you won't need to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses.

The only way to cure your eyesight is to eat healthy and have laser eye surgery or cataract surgery done to correct the vision loss.

In some cases wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses can be enough to correct your vision although in more severe cases you may need laser eye surgery, cataract surgery or even eye injections depending on the cause of the loss of eyesight.

To stop losing your eyesight you should eat a healthy diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables and omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins and also get regular eye exams, and manage any underlying health conditions and get plenty of exercise.

If needed you may need injections into the eyes or near the eyes to slow down or prevent the loss of eyesight.

If you start noticing vision loss you should see an eye doctor to get the eyes checked out and in some cases the loss of eyesight can be reversed even though laser surgery and sometimes it may be a result of you have cataracts which can also be fixed through cataract surgery.

You should also engage in regular exercise to improve your overall health and reduce your risk of high blood pressure and diabetes which can also lead to poor eyesight.
