An 8 year old boy should shower at least once daily or if they are getting dirty or sweaty they should shower twice daily.

If your 8 year old is still smelling of body odor then he may need some deodorant or antiperspirant as well.

If your 8 year old is not getting very dirty or sweating then they can sometimes skip a shower on the weekends when not going to school but on schooldays they should always have a shower even if they don't think they smell bad.

When your kid stinks even with deodorant it can be either that they are not washing up properly or not using soap when they shower or bathe or they are going through puberty early or the kid may also have a condition called Fish Odor Syndrome or other another condition that makes them stink more than usual.

Some kids start going through puberty earlier than others which can lead to body odor and some kids may have a genetic metabolic disease such as trimethylaminuria which is also known as fish odor syndrome that can cause body odor in children including a 6 year old.

To tell a child they need deodorant simply sit down with the child and politely explain to the child that it's very important to wear deodorant to avoid the body odor they are having.

Don't put them down about the body odor and simply explain that body odor is natural but wearing deodorant can make them smell better.

The deodorant that a child should should use is Fresh Monster Deodorant or Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant Stick.

The grade that that boys start wearing deodorant is usually 2nd grade to 3rd grade or when they are 8 to 9 years of age.

Some boys may need deodorant as early as age 5 to 6 or 7 years old and it can depend on the kid.

A good first deodorant for kids is Kopari Aluminum Free Coconut Deodorant.

Kopari Aluminum Free Coconut Deodorant is a great kids deodorant which is gentle going on and easy to apply and includes sage oil and coconut oil without any phthalates, parabens or aluminum.

Dove solid stick deodorant is also a good deodorant for kids.

While Dove solid stick deodorant is not solely for kids or preteens, the aluminum, alcohol, and baking soda-free formula helps reduce skin irritation without sacrificing odor protection which makes it great for kids.

There's no specific age for a child to start wearing deodorant or antiperspirant.

Many start using deodorant in their teens.

Some kids start using deodorant as soon as puberty starts to cause body odor, which can be as early 8 or 9 years old for some children.

Then again, some people never use any deodorant, even as adults.

Deodorant is safe for your kids to use when they're ready.

In fact, many brands make a deodorant that is specially formulated for younger deodorant wearers.

Deodorant helps with the odor coming from the armpits while antiperspirant helps minimize sweat.

Decide with your child what will work best (there are some combo options, as well).

Both deodorant and antiperspirant come in a variety of fragrances.

Let your child choose what they prefer, for a little extra buy in.
