Why does my transmission make a whining noise when I accelerate?

Whenever I accelerate when driving my car the automatic transmission starts to make a whining noise which seems to get even louder the faster I go?

The transmission seems to be shifting just fine but the whining noise from the transmission when accelerating has me concerned since I've never heard the whining noise before?

When an automatic transmission makes a whining noise when accelerating or reversing the vehicle then the whining noise coming from the transmission is most commonly caused by a clogged transmission fluid filter or even low transmission fluid.

First check to be sure your transmission fluid is at the proper level and be sure the transmission fluid is not burnt as burnt transmission fluid can indicate an internal problem with your transmission.

If the transmission fluid is good and full it could be either your transmission filter clogged or your transmission could have worn out gears inside and needs rebuilding or replacement.

Best thing you can do is take the car to a transmission shop and have them check the transmission out as they can tell for sure what is going on.
