When using a nebulizer you have to wait 4 hours between nebulizer treatments in most cases.

Give 1 nebulizer treatment every 4 hours X 2 days, 1 nebulizer treatment every 6 hours for 2 days, 1 nebulizer treatment every 8 hours for 2 days, then 1 nebulizer treatment morning and night for 2 days.

Most people use a nebulizer 3 or 4 times a day for adults and children older than 12 years of age and up to 2.5 mg of nebulizer medication is what is most often taken.

Children 2 to 12 years of age often take 0.63 mg to 1.25 mg of nebulizer medication 3 to 4 times a day or as needed.

And if symptoms don't improve after using the nebulizer you should continue the nebulizer treatment every 20 minutes and if symptoms do improve after that you reduce the frequency of the nebulizer treatments then change to salbutamol metered dose inhaler if you have it.

Using a nebulizer too much can cause you to overdose on your nebulizer medications and cause serious side effects.

In some cases the overdose of the nebulizer can even be fatal.

You should only use the nebulizer as directed by your doctor and don't increase your nebulizer dose or use it any more often than prescribed.

A common drug used in nebulizers is albuterol and inhaling too much albuterol or other nebulizer medications can cause dry mouth, headache, dizziness, nervousness, fast heartbeat, chest pain and seizures.

You should call your doctor or seek medical attention if you experience any serious side effects from the nebulizer.

The serious side effects from using a nebulizer include.

Hoarseness.
Difficulty swallowing.
Increased difficulty breathing.
Swelling of your throat, face, tongue, eyes, lips, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs.
Itching.
Hives.
Rash.
Chest pain.
Fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat.

Your nebulizer dosage is based on your medical condition, age, weight, and response to the nebulizer treatment.

Do not increase your dose or use the nebulizer drug more often than prescribed without your doctor's approval.
