The vitamin deficiency that causes dry mouth is vitamin A, vitamin B12 and vitamin D deficiency which can lead to dry mouth along with zinc and iron deficiencies.

A lack of vitamin A can cause squamous keratinizing metaplasia of your salivary glands can cause dry mouth.

Vitamin B12 is also involved in the production of saliva and a deficiency of vitamin B12 can cause dry mouth and lead to bleeding gums.

Low vitamin D levels can also indirectly contribute to dry mouth, which can lead to increased plaque buildup and tooth decay.

And a lack of iron can cause anemia, which can cause oral health issues including sore tongue, dry mouth and a burning sensation in the mouth.

Iron is required for the body to form hemoglobin, which transports the oxygen to the body's cells which include the cells in the mouth.

Zinc affects the amount and composition of saliva in your mouth and a deficiency can cause less saliva to be produced and lead to dry mouth.

The organ that causes dry mouth is the salivary glands which cause dry mouth when they don't produce enough saliva to keep your mouth moist.

Your salivary glands are responsible for producing saliva to keep your mouth moist and when it doesn't it can lead to dry mouth.

Your salivary glands are located around your mouth and throat and the saliva is crucial for a healthy mouth as it moistens and also breaks down food and washes away food particles and helps with swallowing.

Dry mouth can be caused when your salivary glands don't function as they should and can be caused by dehydration, certain medications, medical conditions or even damage to the salivary glands.

Sjogren's syndrome can also cause dry mouth in some cases.

The neurological disorder that causes dry mouth is Sjogren's syndrome which is an autoimmune disease which damages the glands which produce saliva and tears.

Sjogren's syndrome causes your body's immune system to attack the glands that are responsible for producing moisture which includes those in the mouth and eyes and can lead to and cause dry mouth and dry eyes.

Although Sjogren's syndrome is mainly known for it's effects on moisture producing glands and it can also have neurological complications like peripheral neuropathy or numbness or tingling in the feet and hands.

Dry mouth can also be caused by dehydration, certain medications, diabetes, nerve damage in the head and neck area and much more.

If you have persistent dry mouth and it's not relieved by drinking water and staying hydrated then you should see a doctor to rule out any other underlying health issues.

Dry mouth can also be caused by stroke, yeast infection in the mouth, diabetes, HIV/AIDS or even Alzheimer's disease.

Snoring and mouth breathing with your mouth open can also cause dry mouth.

Most people that have Sjogren's syndrome live long lives with a life expectancy comparable to the general population although some people may experience reduced lifespans due to complications such as interstital lung disease or even lymphoma.

While Sjogren's syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disease it does not always shorten life expectancy for most people that have it.

Sjogren's syndrome primarily affects your moisture producing glands in your mouth and eyes, although it can also impact other organs which include the lungs, joints, kidneys, blood vessels, digestive organs and nervous system.
