The medicine that dries up fluid in the ears are decongestants such as Sudafed, Neo-Synephrine and Afrin.

Sudafed is also known as Pseudoephedrine, Neo-Synephrine is also known as Phenylephrine and Afrin is also known as Oxymetazoline.

These medications help dry up fluid in the ears by reducing inflammation and swelling in your Eustachian tubes, which can help the fluid to drain out from the ears.

Other medications can help with fluid in the ears which include Antihistamines such as Allegra, Claritin and Zyrtec.

The Antihistamines can help with fluid in the ears by blocking the effects of histamine which is a chemical which contributes to inflammation and fluid buildup in the ear.

Nasal steroids can also help with fluid in the ear such as Flonase and Nasonex which reduce inflammation in your nasal passages and help improve the function of your Eustachian tubes and reduce accumulation of fluid.

Antibiotics such as Amoxicillin Clavulanate "Augmentin" and Azithromycin "Zithromax" can also help with fluid in the ears.

If the fluid in your ears is caused by an infection, then antibiotics may be needed to treat the cause.

Other treatments that can help with fluid in your ears are ear drops that contain glycerin or isopropyl alcohol and olive oil drops or warm compresses which can also provide relief.

You can also dry your outer ear with a soft towel or cloth and tip your head to one side to help the fluid drain.

You can also turn your blow dryer on it's lowest setting and blow it towards your ear and even make drying drops at home by mixing 1 part white vinegar to 1 part of rubbing alcohol.
