If the child's cavities or tooth decay is an irreversible stage then the child needs to have a dental filling in place to stop the cavity forming from becoming worse.
And when the tooth decay and cavities are found at an early enough stage then remineralization with fluoride can also treat and even reverse the tooth decay.
To prevent tooth decay and cavities in children ensure that the child brushes their teeth daily and after every meal and also flosses between their teeth and if old enough they should also gargle with some mouthwash.
Children should also have regular dental checkups to ensure their teeth are healthy.
