Why do dogs bury bones in the ground?

The reason dogs bury bones, toys, prey and other things is due to instinct and what they did for survival before dogs became domesticated.

Out in the wild dogs had to hide food by burying it to prevent other animals from getting the food and then when they got hungry they would go dig it back up to eat.

It's just something that dogs are born to do and they continue doing it even when they're domesticated and pets.
