Crime in Portugal is pretty low and most crimes in Portugal that do occur are non violent crimes although pickpocketing and petty theft are common crimes in Portugal and most particularly in the major tourist areas of Portugal.

Portugal is considered to be a relatively safe country with low crime rates and violent crime is rare in Portugal.

The most common crimes in Portugal are petty theft and pickpocketing, bag snatching, theft from holiday properties, scams such as taxi overcharging and ATM skimming and crimes like offenses against physical integrity, theft from motor vehicles, cybercrime, and communications fraud.

The areas of Portugal with the most crime are tourists areas and Lisbon with the popular tram routes 15 and 28, time out market, Bairro Alto, and Cais do Sodre are known for petty theft.

And Casal Ventoso which is an area known for drug users and traffickers.

Portugal is however considered a safe country that also has a low crime rate and a stable political environment.

Many Americans have relocated to Portugal and created a welcoming and supportive community for expats.

And Portugal also has a well regarded healthcare system, with both public and private healthcare options.

People in Portugal are very friendly and are also known for their warm and welcoming nature towards tourists as well as foreigners.

People in Portugal often go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating to those who come into their country.

I've visited Portugal a few times and they've always been very friendly to me and were very helpful and they welcomed me to come back.

I plan to go back to Portugal in a few years and can't wait.

I had a great time in Portugal and would recommend others visit as well.

Portuguese people are also known to readily engage with and assist any newcomers which I've found to be true when I visited.

People in Portugal also often take pleasure in sharing their culture and traditions with visitors and the Portuguese culture emphasizes close relationships within neighborhoods and families which contribute to a sense of hospitality and warmth.

The people in Portugal also tend to be laid back and not quick to become upset which adds to the friendly atmosphere.

However just like anywhere you go you may find a few non friendly Portugal people but most often you will find them to be very friendly.
