Neurotrophic keratitis is a rare eye condition affecting only around 5 out of 10,000 people.

Keratitis in eyes is inflammation of the cornea or the clear tissue that is on the front of the eye.

Keratitis of the eye can be caused by injury, disease, infection or wearing contact lenses too long.

Symptoms of Keratitis in eyes include decreased vision, blurred vision, eye pain and eye redness.

Neurotrophic Keratitis is a pretty rare disease and only around 5 out of 10,000 people have Neurotrophic Keratitis.

Oxervate is the new treatment for neurotrophic keratitis.

You can use Oxervate for as long as you need to use it although most people who use Oxervate only need to use it up to 8 weeks.

The length of treatment for Oxervate is 8 weeks where you instill 1 drop of Oxervate into the eyes 6 times per day at 2 hour intervals.

Oxervate is used to treat an eye condition called neurotrophic keratitis which is a condition of the eye that damages the trigeminal nerve that supplies the surface of your eye and causes loss of sensation and also defects that don't heal naturally.

Oxervate came out on August 22 2018 and was approved by the FDA.

The cost of Oxervate is $48,498.00 per month.

Optometrists as well as ophthalmologists can prescribe Oxervate to their patients.

The ingredients in Oxervate is cenegermin which is a recombinant form of human nerve growth factor which is the main active ingredient and also inactive ingredients in Oxervate which include disodium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, L‑methionine, mannitol, polyethylene glycol 6000, sodium dihydrogen.

Oxervate is a specialty drug and is highly specialized and biological that is very difficult to make which is why it costs so much.

Oxervate does not need to be refrigerated but Oxervate can be refrigerated at between 36 F to 46 F and can also be stored at room temperature up to 77 F for up to 12 hours.

If the room temperature is higher than 77 F then the Oxervate should be kept refrigerated.

The name of Oxervate is cenegermin or cenegermin-bkbj.

Oxervate is an eye drop that is used for the treatment of an eye condition called neurotrophic keratitis.

It's the first medication available for this condition.

The indication for Oxervate is neurotrophic keratitis which is what Oxervate is used to treat.

You can use Oxervate for up to 8 weeks which is generally the amount of time you need to use it.

Most people do not need to use Oxervate longer than 8 weeks.

8 weeks of Oxervate costs $96,996.00 as Oxervate costs $48,498.00 for 4 weeks supply.

Oxervate is the first application of a human nerve growth factor as a drug or treatment to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Approved in August 2018, Oxervate is also the first topical biologic medication (i.e. a drug produced using a living system) approved in the field of ophthalmology.

OXERVATE is the only prescription eye drop that is FDA approved to treat neurotrophic keratitis.

Developed by Dompé, Oxervate was developed using the research findings of Rita Levi Montalcini, an Italian neurophysiologist that received a Nobel Prize in Medicine for the discovery of nerve growth factor.

Oxervate is a medicine used to treat neurotrophic keratitis, an eye condition in which damage to the trigeminal nerve supplying the surface of the eye causes loss of sensation and defects that do not heal naturally.

The medicine is only used in adults with moderate or severe disease.

OXERVATE is a lab developed form of nerve growth factor, which is thought to encourage faster corneal healing, help grow important cells in the cornea, and alleviate damage to the cornea caused by neurotrophic keratitis.

If you have dry eye symptoms or corneal damage, it might be time to try OXERVATE.

Eye discomfort, pain, redness, watery eyes, or temporary blurred vision may occur with the use of OXervate.

If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

Throw away the Oxervate vial no later than 12 hours from the time you connected the vial adapter to it even if there is eye solution still left in the vial.

Track each time you instill an eye drop of OXERVATE on the weekly Dose Recording Card provided with the delivery system.

Oxervate has been shown to increase by around 30-40% the number of people who achieve complete healing of the eye's surface when compared with eye drops containing no active substance.

Lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes after administration.

OXERVATE may cause mild to moderate eye discomfort such as eye pain during treatment.

“There are many safe and effective biologic treatments for NK including amniotic membrane, Oxervate (cenegermin 0.002%, Dompe), autologous serum eye drops (ASEDs) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Oxervate is very expensive and costs as much as $48,498.00 per month.
