Rats will travel very far from their nests when they're looking for food to feed themselves as well as their babies.
Rats are known to travel as far as 300 feet from their Rats nest in search of food.
House mice won't go as far and usually only travel as far as 50 feet away from their nests but Rats will travel much further.
