The average person in retirement has only around $172,000.00 by the time they're in there sixties and are ready to retire or already retired.
Of course it depends on how much income you make per year and how much you can actually save.
When you retire you should have at least six times your income saved for retirement by the time you turn 60 years old.
If you make $60,000.00 per year you should have $360,000.00 saved in retirement by the time you turn 60 years old.
But that is if you make that much and peoples incomes and living costs differ.
And unfortunately some people have less than that in retirement and even some people have no money saved for retirement.
