A CNA or certified nursing assistance can help to ambulate a person who requires assistance to walk or stand on their own.

The process to help a person ambulate is called transfer and it can be very dangerous for both the person and the CNA to transfer if it's not done properly.

A non ambulatory client is a person who is not able to walk about and needs assistance to get around.

Examples of non ambulatory are a patient confined to a wheelchair or hospital bed.
