There is a better drug for type 2 diabetes than metformin which is GLP-1 receptor agonists.

These drugs can be taken orally or through injection either once weekly or once a day.

Doctors no longer prescribe metformin because of possible serious side effects which include severe allergic reactions and also a condition called lactic acidosis which is a buildup of lactic acid in your bloodstream.

Doctors will in some cases still prescribe metformin but they avoid prescribing metformin when possible and espcially for people with kidney disease.

A less expensive alternative to Jardiance is Januvia, Glucophage, Victoza, Actos or Starlix.

Januvia and Invokana are not the same although they both are used to treat type 2 diabetes and Januvia is an add on medication to diet as well as exercise to control and improve blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.

Januvia is sitagliptin while Invokona is canaglifloin is a medication that is used together along with a healthy diet and exercise to lower a persons blood sugar level with type 2 diabetes.

Invokona is somewhat safer than Farxiga but not much safer.

Farxiga has the same adverse side effects of Invokona although Farxiga also has been found to increase the LDL or bad cholesterol in people which makes Farxiga not as safe as Invokona.

The risks of Invokona include kidney damage, possible kidney failure, genital and urinary infections, low blood pressure and hypoglycemia as well as possible serious side effects such as bone fractures, ketoacidosis and possible lower limb amputation.

Invokona is hard on the kidneys as taking Invokona can increase the risk of developing kidney disease and kidney damage.

Kidney damage symptoms include swelling in the ankles, feet and legs and urinating less often than normal.

You can avoid a yeast infection while taking Invokona by avoiding sexual activity while you or your partner has a yeast infection or by taking over-the-counter medications such as Monistat, or prescription drugs such as Diflucan (fluconazole).

The drug Invokona is used for treating type 2 diabetes and lowering blood sugar or glucose in people with type 2 diabetes.

You should take Invokona in the morning before the first meal of your day for the best results.

Based on the potential to reduce PPG excursions due to delayed intestinal glucose absorption, it is recommended that INVOKANA be taken before the first meal of the day.

Invokona is not the same as metformin although they both work to treat type 2 diabetes but they do so in different ways.

Jardiance and Invokona are in the same class of medications called empagliflozin so they are the same medications which are sodium glucose co transporter 2 (SGLT-2) Inhibitors which means they work in the same way to treat type 2 diabetes although Jardiance contains empagliflozin and Invokona contains canagliflozin so they are both nearly the same but slightly different medications.

Medication that is equivalent and similar to Invokana include.

Sulfonylureas.
Biguanides.
Meglitinides.
Thiazolidinediones.
DPP-4 inhibitors.
Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors.

Jardiance is also similar to Invokana although there are no generics to Invokona itself.

The cost of Jardiance at Walmart is $669.79 without an RX discount and with the SingleCare price the cost of Jardiance with SingleCare is $409.67

The average cost of the Jardiance oral tablet 10 mg is around $634.00 for a supply of 30 tablets, depending on the pharmacy you visit.

These prices of Jardiance are for cash-paying customers and are not valid with insurance plans.

The worst side effects of Jardiance are dehydration, low blood sugar, and serious infection as well as Ketoacidosis which means too much acid in your blood although Ketoacidosis is rare.

Hair loss is not a side effect of Jardiance although some medications can lead to hair loss.

Some side effects of Jardiance include

urinary tract infections (UTIs) and fungal (“yeast”) infections of the genitals.

More serious side effects of Jardiance include dehydration, low blood sugar, and serious infection. Ketoacidosis (too much acid in the blood) is also possible but rare.

Jardiance is an antidiabetic medication used to improve glucose control in people with type 2 diabetes.

However Jardiance is not recommended for type 1 diabetes. It is taken by mouth.

Jardiance is a prescription medicine used to: lower blood sugar along with diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes. reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have known cardiovascular disease.

In addition to lowering blood sugar and heart-related risks, Jardiance has been found to potentially help with weight loss.

This is an off-label use.

In one study, people with Type 2 diabetes lost an average of more than 2% to 3% of their body weight while taking Jardiance over 24 weeks (close to 6 months).

Steglatro and Jardiance are in the same drug class as each other but the Steglatro is not the same drug as Jardiance.

Jardiance is an oral medication that can be used to lower your blood sugar and also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in people with type 2 diabetes alongside other medications, dietary changes, and exercise. It is associated with an increased risk of infections, low blood pressure, and diabetic ketoacidosis.

Steglatro is also an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels.

Ertugliflozin works by helping the kidneys get rid of glucose from your bloodstream.

Steglatro is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Steglatro is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
