Qsymia does begin working immediately after you begin taking it.

Qsymia is said to reduce your appetite which gives you all day control of your hunger.

The side effects of Qsymia include.

Numbness or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or face (paraesthesia)
Dizziness.
Changes in the way foods taste or loss of taste (dysgeusia)
Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
Constipation.
Dry mouth.

Qsymia is FDA approved.

Qsymia was approved by the FDA in July of 2012.

Qsymia, is a combination drug of phentermine and topiramate used to treat obesity.

It is used together with dietary changes and exercise.

If less than 3% weight loss is seen after 3 months it is recommended the medication be stopped.

The weight loss is modest.

In clinical trials, the average weight participants lost was 15 lbs after taking Qsymia (phentermine / topiramate ER) for about 3 months (12 weeks).

After taking the medication for about 1 year (56 weeks), participants lost an average of 24 lbs.

Qsymia is the same as Phentermine/topiramate (Qsymia) which combines a centrally acting appetite suppressant (phentermine) with an antiepileptic agent (topiramate) in an extended-release capsule.

The side effects of Qsymia include.

Numbness or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or face (paraesthesia)
Dizziness.
Changes in the way foods taste or loss of taste (dysgeusia)
Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
Constipation.
Dry mouth.

In order to qualify for Qsymia you must meet the following criteria.

Adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of: 30 kg/m2 or greater (obese), or.
Pediatric patients aged 12 years and older with an initial BMI in the 95th percentile or greater standardized for age and sex

Topiramate, one of Qsymia's components, is teratogenic [can interfere with fetal development], and another component, phentermine, can increase heart rate and blood pressure.

So women of childbearing age and people at risk of cardiovascular disease should watch out.
