Humans did lose their tails although some humans are born with a vestigial tail that serves no purpose.

Vestigial tails in humans are called the tailbone also called the coccyx.

Humans won't ever grow tails again as human tails serve no useful function.

However some humans will and do grow tails but it's very rare.

Some humans are born with tails although being born with a tail or tails is rare in humans.

The race that is born with tails are Caucasians as 50 percent of Caucasians are or were born with a tail.
