A dog hot spot will not go away on it's own without treatment.

Dog hot spot healing time usually lasts anywhere from a few days up to a couple of weeks.

Continue to clean and check the affected area daily. If the area worsens or does not show improvement in a couple of days, or in extreme cases, you should contact your veterinarian for further treatment, such as antibiotics.

You can get rid of your dogs hot spots by clipping the hair around the area to prevent mating.

You can also clean the affected area where the hot spots are with some gentle antiseptic solution like chlorhexidine and also bath the dog with a chlorhexidine based shampoo for dogs.

Also topical or oral antibiotics can treat hot spots and you can also use coconut oil or some apple cider vinegar to treat the dogs hot spots.

Some home remedies you can use for your dogs hot spots are coconut oil and apple cider vinegar.

Apple Cider Vinegar is good for dogs hot spots as apple cider vinegar contains acidic compounds which can treat hot spots and even eliminate dandruff in dogs.

Coconut oil does help dog hot spot as well as dry skin, itchy skin, stings and bites.

You can also get rid of dog hot spots by using dog shampoos made with organic oils such as coconut oil.

Dog Hot spots are usually caused by self-trauma when a dog scratches an itch so vigorously that it creates an open wound.

Many things can cause the initial itch in dogs including: Allergies including food allergies or inhalant allergies that cause itching.

Topical antibiotics, desiccating sprays, and soothing reagents will be more effective when applied to a clipped, clean skin surface.

Oral antibiotics and steroids/antihistamines may also be in order for serious hot spots.

You can put coconut oil on your dog's fur.

You can simply add some coconut oil to your hand and then massage the coconut oil into your dogs fur.

Then run your fingers through the dogs fur and pat the dogs coat gently.

You can wash your dog once a week if the dog needs it.

Although most dogs only need a bath every few weeks or once a month it's okay to bathe the dog once a week if needed.

Dogs do really need baths although not as often as humans.

Dogs still get dirty and need to be cleaned but giving the dog a bath too often can damage their fur and dry their skin out.

Giving your dog a bath regularly and bathing them helps with shedding and also helps remove dead hair which can intertwine with healthy hair.

Dogs need a bath every 21 days to 30 days.

Long-hair dog breeds often shed during the spring season and sometimes require more baths to remove dead coat layers.

Most dog experts recommend bathing your dog every 21 to 30 days to promote a healthy coat and aid shedding.

Shedding in dogs is perfectly normal unless the dog is suddenly shedding too much of it's fur.

Dogs shed seasonally although most shedding of dogs occurs in the fall and spring.

During the spring months the dogs fur coat becomes lighter in preparation for warm water.

And in fall the dogs fur coat becomes thicker in preparation for winter.

Some things you can do to get your dog to stop shedding so much are.

Brush Your Dog often.
Give your dog a Fatty Acid Supplement. ...
Cover Your Furniture and Car Seats.
Use allergy and Flea Control. ...
Vacuum Often.
Bathe Your Dog Occasionally During the Summer.
Use the Right Brush.

Allergies, diet, and stress are all factors that may lead a dog to shed more heavily than what is considered usual for their breed.

Just add a tablespoon of Olive Oil to the dogs food everyday and the Olive Oil will slow down the dogs shedding of it's coat since the Olive Oil contains omega-3 fatty acids which helps to condition the dogs skin and coat which helps to prevent the shedding.

You can also buy a suit you put on your dog that will help contain the fur that the dog is shedding.
