You can get rid of aphids naturally by removing the aphids by hand and by spraying them with water or soapy water.

You can also knock the aphids into a bucket of soapy water which will eventually kill them.

You can also make a natural organic spray to kill aphids which soap and water and or neem oil or other essential oils.

Also using natural predators of the aphids which include birds, green lacewings and ladybugs can also kill and eat the aphids.

Aphids are small sap-sucking insects and members of the superfamily Aphidoidea.

Common names include greenfly and blackfly, although individuals within a species can vary widely in color.

The group includes the fluffy white woolly aphids.

Aphids become more of a problem when things get out of whack, which can happen when plants are stressed by drought, poor soil conditions, or overcrowding.

Aphids are not harmful to humans directly although aphids can be quite damaging to plants, such as crops, which means they can destroy our farms, trees, and gardens if left unchecked.

Aphids damage a huge variety of host plants by sucking the juices from leaves and stems, causing discoloration, leaf curling, yellowing, and stunted growth. Large infestations can produce a sticky, sugary waste product known as honeydew.

Honeydew can attract ants, and fuel the growth of fungus on plant surfaces.

Aphids are especially attracted to mustard and nasturtium. Plant these near more valuable plants as traps for the aphids.

The aphids will likely go for these plants before your prized tomatoes.

(Check your trap plants regularly to keep aphid populations from jumping to your valued plants.)

A female can live for 25 days, during which time she can produce up to 80 new aphids.

Spring and summer reproduction occurs asexually – without males.

The result of being 'bitten' by the aphid is a red swelling that disappears after an hour or so, but leaves a very itchy rash that can persist for two to three days.

In fact this phenomenon is so common that people avoid passing underneath infested trees.
