Turmeric and honey is good for a cough as both honey and turmeric are an antioxidant and antimicrobial which helps to cure coughing and helps to get rid of mucus as well as phlegm.

Hot water does help stop coughing as hot water soothes the throat and also helps bring up and loosen any mucus or phlegm that could be in your throat.

Salt is good for a cough as salt can help clear up mucus from the back of the throat which reduces the urge and need to cough.

You can gargle with a bit of salt water daily to help get rid of mucus and help ease coughing.

Gargling with salt water is also good for a sore throat as well.

Ginger can cure a cough and help ease coughing as ginger is a strong antimicrobial.

Ginger and honey is good for cough as when ginger is added too honey it has a much stronger antimicrobial effect which helps to stop a cough.

You can add some freshly grated ginger and some honey to some hot water or tea and make a good drink for cough.

Honey is good for cough and honey has been used for years as a natural cough syrup.

Honey helps to soothe your throat as well and helps to get rid of sore throats.

You can also add some honey to hot tea or warm tea which also helps stop a cough and soothe sore throats.

To treat a cough with honey take between 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey per day.

Milk is also good for a cough.

Cold milk and warm or hot milk are good for coughs and colds although the hot or warm milk is better for a cough and can help stop coughing.

Warm or hot tea with some honey or even just some plain warm or hot tea can also help with coughing and soothe your throat as well.

Hot milk and warm milk is good for a cough as the hot and warm milk helps to soothe your throat and open up a stuffed throat.

Warm milk along with turmeric is also good for a cough and is also good for you.

The symptoms of a dry cough are a cough without mucus or phlegm and usually a tickling sensation in your throat.

When you have a dry cough you may forcefully expel air and your throat can become irritated and dry and you might also develop a sore throat.

A dry cough is basically just a normal cough but without mucus or phlegm and is also known as an unproductive cough.

You cannot and should not drink alcohol when you're coughing or have a cold or flu as the alcohol can weaken your already weak immune system.

The alcohol can make the cough or illness worse and take longer to get over.

Drink plenty of water, warm tea, warm tea with honey etc when you have a cough or other illness to help speed up recovery from the cough or other illness.

Your cough is worse at night because the mucus pools at the back of your throat while you're laying down.

During the day the mucus does not pool up and can slide down in your throat so you don't cough as much during the day as you do at night.

Coughing is worse at night because when you're laying down the mucus pools at the back of the throat which leads to coughing.

Sleeping with the head elevated can decrease postnasal drip and symptoms of GERD, which both cause coughing at night.

To stop coughing at night drink some warm tea before bed with a bit of honey.

Also use a humidifier in your bedroom to help add moisture to the air and also consider using an air purifier to clean the air in the bedroom as well.

You should also suck on some cough drops such as Halls Cough Drops.

Halls Cough Drops have been the best cough drops for me although they cost a bit more than cheaper cough drops.

Taking some NyQuil can also help you stop coughing and help you get to sleep as well.

Keep a glass of water near your bed so you can sip on it through the night or in the night when you wake up coughing.

To stop a coughing attack sip on some water, warm tea with honey, take some honey, take a steamy shower and use a humidifier in your home.

Also use an air purifier to clean the air as sometimes irritants in the air can lead to coughing attacks.

Some ways to stop coughing fast are to drink some water, warm tea with honey, warm tea by itself, take some cough syrup, Halls Cough Drops, other cough drops, suck on some mint candy, candy canes.

Inhale steam by using a humidifier, boil a pot of water on the stove, take a steamy hot shower or sit in the bathroom with the shower going on hot with the steam filling the room.

If your coughing continues then you may want to see a doctor as it may be something else that needs looked at and treated.

You can also use Vicks VapoRub on your feet or on your chest to help stop coughing fast.

The Vicks when applied to your feet stimulates your nerves to help you stop coughing.

You can also apply some Vicks VapoRub to your chest to help you stop coughing and help you breathe better as well.

Putting Vicks VapoRub on your feet can help stop coughing because the Vicks VapoRub helps stimulates your nerves in your feet which then helps stop coughing.

Adding some Vicks VapoRub under your nose or chin or putting some Vicks VapoRub on your chest can also help you stop coughing.

Given that feet contains lots of nerves, your sensory nerves in the soles of the feet can respond to stimulation with Vicks VapoRub: The [brain's] cough center is right next to the spinal cord.

Most coughs are nothing to worry about unless the coughing last for longer than a few week and or the coughing gets worse.

Another time you should be worried about a cough is if you're coughing up a lot of blood.

If you happen to cough up just a bit of blood and it goes away then it's usually nothing to worry about but if the blood continues or gets worse when you're coughing then seek medical attention.

A cough is your body's way of responding when something irritates your throat or airways.

An irritant stimulates nerves that send a message to your brain.

The brain then tells muscles in your chest and abdomen to push air out of your lungs to force out the irritant.

An occasional cough is normal and healthy.

Call your doctor if your cough (or your child's cough) doesn't go away after a few weeks or if it also involves any one of these: Coughing up thick, greenish-yellow phlegm. Wheezing. Experiencing a fever.

See a doctor immediately if you experience the following symptoms accompanying a cough because it may be serious:

    Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath.
    Shallow, rapid breathing.
    Wheezing.
    Chest pain.
    Fever.
Coughing up blood or yellow or green phlegm.
    Coughing so hard you vomit.
    Unexplained weight loss.
