You cannot use a car battery in your mobility scooter as they are not meant to be constantly drained like a mobility scooter battery.

While you could install a car battery on your mobility scooter and make it move it will not work properly or last as long on a charge.

You want a deep cycle battery that is meant to be drained and then recharged constantly.

Car batteries are only meant to send enough power to start the engine and then charge right back up with the alternator.

Mobility scooter batteries are deep cycle batteries that are meant to run a motor and be drained and then later recharged.

Mobility scooters do need servicing and most often the servicing of a mobility scooter involves only replacing the battery or batteries and sometimes the seat and tires.

The batteries of the mobility scooter are most often what needs servicing and replaced every 1 to 2 years.

Mobility scooter batteries need replacing every 1 to 2 years although some mobility scooter batteries are good for 3 years.

The more you use your mobility scooter the sooner the mobility scooter batteries need replaced.

For people who use their mobility scooter daily the mobility scooter batteries need replaced every 1 to 2 years and if you don't use the mobility scooter daily then the mobility scooter battery can sometimes last as long as 3 years.

Mobility scooters can travel between 10 miles to 25 miles depending on the mobility scooter and it's battery or batteries.

Smaller mobility scooters have a range of around 10 to 15 miles while larger mobility scooters have a range of around 20 to 25 miles as long as the mobility scooter is fully charged and the battery is good.

As the battery on the mobility scooter ages and is used it loses it's range.

You cannot overcharge a scooter or mobility scooter battery as most scooter and mobility scooter battery chargers have an automatic cut off which detects when the battery is full charged and then stops charging the battery.

However if that cut off on the scooter or mobility scooters battery charger failed it could overcharge the battery so it's best to not leave the battery charger on the scooter or mobility scooter plugged in all the time.

However overnight is good enough to charge the battery on the scooter or mobility scooter.

You should not leave your mobility scooter on charge all the time as it's not really needed and can shorten the lifespan of the charger and sometimes the battery as well.

You only need to charge your mobility scooter overnight which is enough and then unplug it during the day and then plug it back in overnight.

Although mobility scooter battery chargers have a cut off to stop charging the battery when it's full there's always the chance of that malfunctioning and causing over charging and possibly fire.

So only charge it overnight which is enough to give you the needed range.

Mobility scooters can travel around 10 miles on average on a full charge although some mobility scooters can travel as far as 15 to 25 miles on a full charge.

That is for average size mobility scooters and for the cheaper mobility scooters as they usually have a 10 mile range.

Larger size and more expensive mobility scooters can usually travel as far as 15 miles to 25 miles on a full charge.

Also your weight and the batteries age can also affect the miles you can travel on the mobility scooter as well.

As the mobility scooters battery ages it can lose the range it can take the mobility scooter before it drains.

Also make sure you fully charge the mobility scooter to full charge before you take it too far or you could end up stranded.

My Grandpas mobility scooter can usually go 25 miles and then it needs charged.

He had a cheaper version and smaller mobility scooter that could only go 10 miles before it needed a charge.

He drives his mobility scooter all over town and has no issues as long as the battery is fully charged.

When your mobility scooters battery gets older it needs replaced or they lose their ability to keep a charge long enough to give you the mileage range it used too.

Most mobility scooter batteries need changed every 1 to 2 years although some mobility scooter batteries can last as long as 3 years depending on how often the mobility scooter is used.

Also if you're a veteran you can get a free mobility scooter from the VA and they will also repair anything that needs repaired on your mobility scooter such as the batteries, seat etc.

Or you can buy a mobility scooter out of pocket or sometimes some health insurance may pay for the mobility scooter if your doctor says you need one.
