Too much sugar does not make kids hyper.
The too much sugar making kids hyper is a myth and it's not true although it's been going around for a long time.
No matter how much sugar a kid eats it will not make them hyper or any more hyper than they already are.
Kids are naturally hyper and are not meant to sit still.
All kids will be hyper at times but sugar is not the cause.
However too much sugar is bad for kids though as it can cause health issues such as obesity, tooth decay, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease, among other health problems.
Although some foods and sugar can cause reactions in kids with ADHD and hyperactivity disorders but it's not a direct cause of hyperness.
Foods that can cause ADHD reactions include milk, chocolate, soy, wheat, eggs, beans, corn, tomatoes, grapes, and oranges.
If you suspect a food sensitivity may be contributing to your child's ADHD symptoms, talk to your ADHD dietitian or doctor about trying an elimination diet.
If your child is hyper, it could be because they're just a kid.
It's normal for children of all ages to have lots of energy.
