If you don't have AC and need to cool your room down without AC you can place bowls of water in front of fans to help cool your room down.

Also you can place fans blowing outwards in open windows to blow out hot air from your room.

And during the evenings you can use the fan to blow cool evening air into your room such as by placing a box fan in a window blowing inside.

Fans do not actually cool down a room as fans can only cool a person by removing heat from your body.

However fans can help cool a room when you put ice in front of the fan but without ice the fan can only circulate air.

You can put ice in front or behind a fan.

However for best results the ice should be placed in front of the fan so that the fan blows over the cold ice which then cools the air and yourself better.

You can also place ice in front and behind the fan for even better cooling.

When placing a fan in a window the fan should be positioned and pointed in to draw cool air in when the air is cooler.

During the hot weather it's best to point fans outward to blow hot air out.

To keep yourself cool you should position the fan so that it blows the air onto you.

Ideally the best way to position fans is to place the outward-facing fans on the warmer side of your home to blow the hot air out and inward-facing fans on the cooler side to draw cool air in.

Putting cold water in front of a fan does work as the fan blows over the cold water it circulates the cold from the cold water into the air.

The water itself is also circulated into the air in small amounts which also helps to cool yourself and the room down.

Putting a wet towel over a fan does make it blow cooler air.

The fan will blow on the wet towel and send that moist air into the room and circulate it which makes you cooler.

It's best to put the fan with the wet towel pointing at you to cool you directly.

Putting a frozen bottle of water or bowl of ice in front of the fan can also make you cooler with the fan.

Putting a frozen bottle of water in front of a fan does work.

As the fan blows over the cold frozen bottle of water the fan circulates that cold air and any water droplets coming off the frozen water bottle.

This in turn keeps you cool and you can do the same with a bowl of ice.

As the fan blows over the ice it blows the cool air onto you and into the air keeping you cool.

To hack a fan for extra cooling you can place a bowl of ice in front of the fan so that the fan blows over the ice and cools you and the air around you.

Placing the bowl of ice in front of the fan makes it work sorta like an air conditioner.

Putting ice behind a fan does make it cooler as it draws the cool air from the ice into the fan as well as any water that evaporates.

Then the fan blows that cool air from the ice and water droplets into the air cooling you and the air down.

Also putting a bowl of ice in front of the fan also helps to keep you cool as the air passes over the ice the air is chilled and will circulate the fresh cold air around your room.

Your room is so hot even with the fan on because of lack of proper ventilation.

If you only have a fan to keep cool and no air conditioner for your room you need to have your windows open on hot days along with your fan.

Fans themselves don't cool rooms but they do cool people.

So also make sure you have the fan pointed at you and also have the windows open to allow for air flow.

You can also place a fan such as a box fan inside your window and point it so that fan blows air in which helps improve air circulation and helps keep your room cooler and yourself cooler.

You can also place a bowl of ice in front of a fan so that the fan blows over the cold ice and then helps to cool you down.

You can also cool yourself down by putting a cool wet towel over your face.

You can cool a room with just one window and one fan.

Place a box fan in the window or a pedestal fan within 5 feet of the window.

When the air is cooler outside than it is inside, point the air so it blows into the house.

When the air cools down outside during the evening then that is a good time to open windows and place fans near the window or in the window to blow that cool air into your house.

'First, keep your windows, doors and blinds shut during the day to avoid hot sun beating down into your house.

Then, during the evening, open your windows and place one fan facing out of your window, so it pushes the heat out.

'Use a second fan, placed inwards, to circulate cool air into the room.
