You cannot drink water or any other liquids 2 hours before the colonoscopy.

However you can drink some water if there's 3 or more hours before the colonoscopy.

You can drink some water the morning of the colonoscopy as long as there's at least 3 hours before the colonoscopy procedure.

Do not drink any water or other liquids before the colonoscopy if there's not 3 hours before the colonoscopy.

The doctor will tell you to stop drinking water or any liquids at least 3 hours before the colonoscopy or it can mess up the results.

You can brush your teeth before a colonoscopy although you should refrain from drinking or eating anything including water, the morning of your colonoscopy procedure.

You cannot wear deodorant before or during a colonoscopy as deodorant contains chemicals which can interfere with the test results of the colonoscopy.

You can shower in the morning or before you colonoscopy but avoid using any deodorants, perfumes and lotions.

Also leave any valuables, contact lenses or Jewelry at home which is recommended.

Although if you do need your contact lenses to see with then you can take your contact lenses with you.

After the colonoscopy procedure you should begin waking up within 10 minutes to 15 minutes once the anesthesia starts to leave your system.

However you will still be tired and groggy for awhile after the procedure and may not be fully awake for 24 hours so you need a drive to be with you and to drive you home after the colonoscopy.

You can get the colonoscopy done without sedation but it's better to be sedated as it's more comfortable.

You do need someone to stay with you after your colonoscopy and the person will need to be with you during your colonoscopy appointment to drive you home.

You will not be released from the hospital after the colonoscopy without a driver with you because you'll be sedated and will be too tired and fatigued to drive yourself home.

You can Uber home from a colonoscopy as long as you have another adult with you or if you can have the uber driver come into the hospital or doctors office with you to sign a form saying they are driving you home.

Not all Uber drivers will do that but if you tip them they may do so.

Most hospitals and doctors are reluctant to allow someone to Uber or take a Taxi home or even a bus etc home after the colonoscopy unless they have another adult with them.

If don't have someone with you to drive you home then the colonoscopy will be canceled until you can get someone to come with you to the doctors office or hospital to drive you home.

You do need someone to drive you home after a colonoscopy.

If you were sedated for the colonoscopy you will be unable to drive yourself home as you will be groggy and tired while getting the anesthesia out of your system.

So you won't be alert enough to safely drive yourself home and the doctors won't release you from the hospital if you have nobody else to drive you home.

The person will need to come into the doctors office or hospital with you though to sign a form saying they will be driving you home so they can release you.

The cost of a Colonoscopy ranges from $2,100.00 to $3,764.00

For a Colonoscopy those without health insurance typically pay $2,100.00 to $3,764.00

The average colonoscopy cost is $3,08100.

People with health insurance pay deductibles based on their plan.

Deductibles range from zero to more than $1,000.00

If the Colonoscopy is medically necessary and ordered by your doctor then your health insurance should cover most of the cost of the Colonoscopy.

A colonoscopy is an exam used to detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine (colon) and rectum. During a colonoscopy, a long, flexible tube (colonoscope) is inserted into the rectum.

A tiny video camera at the tip of the tube allows the doctor to view the inside of the entire colon.

Colonoscopy is a safe procedure.

But occasionally it can cause heavy bleeding, tears in the colon, inflammation or infection of pouches in the colon known as diverticulitis, severe abdominal pain, and problems in people with heart or blood- vessel disease.

You may be awake during the test and may even be able to speak.

You will probably not remember anything.

You lie on your left side with your knees drawn up toward your chest.

The scope is gently inserted through the anus.

Recovery from a colonoscopy, a procedure that examines your large intestine, usually lasts about a day.

To help with healing, be sure to follow any post-procedure instructions.

This may include resting, drinking lots of fluids, and not drinking alcohol for the first 24 hours.
