Can a child have a different blood type than their parents?

Yes it's very possible for a child to be born with an entirely different blood type than either of their parents.

That's why sometimes it's not possible for a child's parent/parents to give their own child blood when they might need it during a blood transfusion.

Sometimes they have to get someone else's blood to use for the child because if the blood types don't match it won't work.
