A return and exchange policy is a policy set by stores and retail merchants that lays out the details and policies on what and how items and merchandise can be exchanged or refunded.

The return policy for products is a policy that lays out how long a customer has to return items, in what condition the items must be, if they need a receipt and whether they will receive cash or store credit.

Without a return policy, there can be disagreements over when and what can be returned or exchanged at the store.

While many retailers have decided this makes for the best business practice, they aren't legally required to accept returns.

Rather, retailers are required to accept returns only if the sold good is defective or if they otherwise break the sales contract.

For example the return policy of tires would be that you can return the tires if they are unused and never installed.

You can return tires if you don't like them or got the wrong tires if the tires have not been mounted or used.

To return tires to tire places you must never have used the tires or mounted them.

If you simply don't like them and have had them installed and then used the tires then most places will not accept the tires back.

An exception would be R and R Tire or other tire places that you're making payments on the tires for and you fail to pay then they will take the tires back.

Discount Tire does have a return policy.

According to Discount Tire the return policy is you can return any items to Discount Tire as long as you have proof of purchase, receipt and you can return the item or items for your money back.

You can return tires to discount tire as long as the tires are new and have not been mounted or used.

If the tires have been mounted or used then discount tire will not accept them for return.

Discount Tire offers returns, refunds, and exchanges on tires that you decide you no longer want.

These tires must be unmounted and never used and in good condition.
