It is normal for a 5 year old to wear diapers if they need diapers.

Some 5 year olds may have trouble with potty training or have incontinence issues and some 5 year olds may have autism which makes it difficult or impossible to potty train so they need to wear diapers.

Although most 5 year olds are potty trained during the day and don't need diapers it's okay if the 5 year old needs to wear a diaper and they should wear the diaper when needed.

Some 5 year olds also wet the bed and need diapers to keep their bed and clothes dry at night.

There's no age limit for diapers and anyone of any age can and should wear diapers when they need the diapers.

When potty training a boy it's best to begin potty training the boy sitting down.

Then as they get the hang of using the toilet you can switch to potty training them standing up to pee.

However it is also okay to potty train the boy both standing up and sitting down if you prefer.

If the boy only needs to pee then you can help them stand up to pee and take the boys hand and have him grab is penis to hold it to pee and you may need to help him aim at first.

Potty training a 4 year old can be pretty hard although in some cases a 4 year old may potty train easy as most children are ready to potty train by 4 years of age.

When the child is younger it's usually harder to potty train but when they are older they can understand things better and be able to pull up their underwear and pants better.

Then again some 4 year olds may fight potty training but eventually get there when ready.

When potty training you should not say bad things or mean things to the child and do not belittle the child for having accidents.

When potty training keep assuring the child that everything is okay and then clean up any messes and tell them they will do good the next time.

Things you should not do when potty training are.

Forcing or making your child sit on the toilet against their will.
Punishing your child for not using the toilet.
Treating accidents or bedwetting like bad behavior.

If your child is not going potty on the toilet then revert back to diapers and try again a few months later.

If you don't potty train your child the child will eventually learn to use the toilet once they get older and see you and others going to the toilet.

My sister gave up on potty training her kid when he was 3 years old and could not get him to use the toilet.

He finally potty trained once he was 8 years old and decided he no longer wanted to wear diapers.

So kids really do not need potty training and they will eventually get it and some eventually potty train by 4 and some by 5 years old or even 6 or 7 without potty training them.

Boys are harder to potty train than girls.

Girls usually potty train at least a year or 2 earlier than most boys will potty train.

However sometimes a boy may potty train sooner than a girl as it depends on the child.

The average boy is potty trained around 2 and 1/2 years to 3 years of age.

However some boys may take longer to potty train and not be ready to potty train until near their 4th birthday.

Some boys may also potty train as early as 18 months as every kid is different.

Boys are typically harder to potty train than girls.

If the kid is not potty trained by 4 and 1/2 then you will need to start forcing the issue as kids cannot go to Kindergarten wearing diapers and not potty trained.

The average age for potty training kids is between 18 months to 2 years of age.

That is for most kids who are ready to potty train at those ages.

Some kids are ready to potty train and get out of diapers as early as age 18 months and are fully potty trained by 2 years old.

The child may still need to wear diapers at night for bed wetting but they should be able to go all day without a diaper.

Some kids may not potty train and be out of diapers until age 3 years old to as late as 4 years old.

A kid will eventually potty train when they are ready.

It's normal for a kid to need to wear diapers for bed wetting from age 3 to as late as age 8 years old and even older.

Some kids will continue to wet the bed for quite awhile and it's normal and some kids may wet the bed until age 17 or 18 years old and some people wet the bed all their lives and that is also normal.

Forcing potty training too early can be harmful to the child's health because they may try to hold in their poop or pee and that can lead to kidney and bowel issues.

There's really not a set age when a kid should begin potty training or for them to be potty trained.

A kid should wear diapers until they are ready to use the toilet.

Some kids are ready to potty train by 18 months while some are not ready to potty train until 3 years to 4 years old and in some cases some kids may not be ready to potty train until 5 years old.
