If the bank cashed the forged check and didn't know the signature on the check was forged then the only person responsible for the forged check is the person who forged the check.
But if the bank knowingly cashed a check with a forged signature and didn't check it out then the bank is also liable for the forged check along with the person who wrote the forged check.
