To be completely honest, I wanna see sizes 8-9-10 in pampers, Huggies, Luvs. I honestly believe that older kids are bedwetter, kids are incontinent or the kids outsmart the parents and they they are soaking and messing in the pants untel they are back in diapers

Diaper companies that make diapers for babies and toddlers are now making larger size diapers that can fit 7 and 8 year olds because some kids wet the bed and parents find the larger regular diapers better for kids who wet the bed than pull ups.

Also some kids are not being potty trained until age 5 or even after age 5 because some parents don't want to deal with the potty training.

Then there's some older kids above 5 that may have incontinence issues and need a diaper and adult diapers are too big while the toddler diapers in larger sizes such as size 7 will fit the kid better.

Then there's also some older kids that are autistic or has other disabilities that prevent potty training so they need diapers.

For kids who wet the bed most times pull ups leak and so the diaper is much better and keeps the kid and their bed and clothing dry.

Diaper companies see that there's a need for larger size diapers and parents are buying them so they make them and sell them.

I think it's good that diaper companies are making larger size diapers in their baby and toddler diaper line as they are better than most medical grade diapers.

Diaper companies are making larger size diapers for older kids as there's a market and need for them.

And although diaper companies are marketing the larger diapers to parents with older kids who need diapers either for bed wetting, not potty trained yet etc a lot of diaper lovers including myself buy the larger size diapers to wear for fun.

So even diaper lovers are buying the larger sizes and I do wish they would make larger diapers in the baby diaper brands like Pampers, Huggies, Luvs etc.

I sometimes will modify a toddler diaper like Luvs, Pampers, Gentle Steps, Huggies etc to wear to help me get into the baby mood and it's fun as well.

The short answer is that some kids still need them even as late as age eight or nine (even during the day).

Due to a neurological condition that would only be diagnosed much later I was a late trainer myself. I was five-and-a-half, almost six by the time I was pretty much there during the day. I was at least nine or ten before my nighttime wetting began to drop off in any significant fashion. I may have been as old as eleven (or close to eleven) by the time it stopped completely.

Back in the 1980s, one of my cousins didn’t start training until between age four and five and his bowel training wasn’t finished (even during the day) until he was seven years old (in second grade). He had to wear diapers at night for at least another year beyond that. His nighttime training finished at an earlier age than mine did, but for some reason he got a later start. He was normal sized (or even slightly larger than normal) so his parents needed to resort to cloth diapers and plastic pants by the time he was about six or seven (before that he was able to wear Pampers). I was able to stay in Pampers for as long as I needed them because I was smaller than average and by the time I had my growth spurt in late childhood I no longer needed them. All of this happened during the 1980s.

The bottom line is that these products exist in this size because there is enough of a market to make them commercially viable for the manufacturers. Also, some children as young as four or five who may still need to wear diapers either occasionally (at night or in other situations where it may not be possible to get to the bathroom in time) or all the time are overweight or obese (for various reasons) and therefore need these products in the larger sizes.
