Why Easter is so important to Christians?

Why is the holiday Easter so important to Christians and why do Christians celebrate Easter?

Easter signifies newness of things and Christians are all about the newness of things coming to them.

Easter also signifies the Resurrection of Jesus Christ when he rose from the dead.

Well he supposedly did but I don't believe that he did.

And I don't believe that there is an afterlife either so I don't don't celebrate any christian holidays because it's not my belief.

I have no problem with other people believe in god and Jesus or the afterlife but I just don't see how it's possible that there is some afterlife where a God or Jesus is up in the sky.

It's just too much of a fairy tale for me to believe.
