Aquaphor itself is not carcinogenic although aquaphor contains some ingredients that could potentially be carcinogenic.

The certain impurities may be in the petrolatum and they can cause allergies and even be a carcinogen.

Cosmetic grade mineral oil has never been linked to cancer. Ceresin: A naturally derived wax that is used as a thickening agent.

Lanolin Alcohol: A third occlusive moisturizer with some emollient properties.

Lanolin is basically derived from the sweat of sheep, it gets washed out of wool after the shearing.

Aquaphor and Vaseline are generally safe for use. But if you have an allergy to lanolin, then you should not use Aquaphor.

Vaseline is still safe for use because it contains nothing other than petroleum jelly.

Vaseline is better than Aquaphor for burns, as lanolin may cause further irritation.

Purified forms of petroleum jelly do not contain dangerous ingredients.

Vaseline is one of the most popular commercial forms of petroleum jelly, and according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), it has a low risk of exposing users to carcinogens and other dangerous ingredients.

Aquaphor is best applied to wounded, tattooed, or dry areas of skin on the face.

It's safe for most people to apply to their entire face one to a few times a day to help seal in moisture; however, there are no clear benefits to doing so.

From a strictly cosmetic standpoint, both Vaseline and Aquaphor work well as makeup removers, a cuticle cream, and in Vaseline's case an anti-aging product, because it increases the amount of peptides on your skin.

However, if it's a moisturizer you're looking for, skip the Vaseline and reach for the Aquaphor.

Vaseline contains 100 percent petroleum jelly, while Aquaphor includes other ingredients like mineral oil, ceresin, lanolin alcohol, panthenol, glycerin, and bisabolol.

Both can be used on lips and skin, as wound healers, and as makeup removers or cuticle softeners.
Aquaphor is also an emollient which means it helps add and lock in moisture.

As an occlusive, it's ideal as a top layer to seal in other skin products.

It helps seal in the moisture barrier and is great for dry areas on the body, healing cuts to prevent scars, dry lips, and healing cracked skin."
