The effects of sleeping with a fan on include, dry mouth, dry nose, dry throat and sometimes a sore throat.

Sleeping with a fan on won't make you sick but if you're already sick then sleeping with a fan may make your illness worse.

The reason you sleep better with a fan on is the fan creates white noise which blocks other other noises and also helps to calm and relax you.

Some people have trouble sleeping in complete silence and the fan produces some noise that helps you sleep and calm your mind.

I even sleep better with a fan on or the compressor running in my window air conditioner near my bed.

For some people it's better for them to sleep in silence while for others it's better to sleep with some background noise such as white noise.

Some people including myself prefer to sleep with a bit of noise in the background as pure silence can bother us and make it hard to sleep.

Others may have a hard time sleeping when there's noise in the background.

Rain sounds do help some people sleep.

When it comes to sleep everyone is different and while some people can sleep to rain sounds or other noises other people may find it hard to sleep with rain sounds or other white noise.

As for myself I find that I sleep much better when it's raining out or when I use rain sound white noise from YouTube all night.

I sleep much better with some form of noise than in pure silence.

My brother on the other hand has to have complete silence but for me complete silence keeps me awake.

Even when I was a baby and little kid I would not sleep good unless some music was playing or some noise was around.

While most people want people to be quiet when a baby or toddler is sleeping It was actually the opposite for me as I would sleep better when people were talking and making noise or the TV, radio etc were on.

The rhythmic, quiet sound of rain can be a remarkably good lullaby for people who are trying to sleep.

Some studies have shown that the sound of rain actually causes the brain to relax unconsciously, pushing it towards a state of sleepiness.

Naturally, this is not the case when it's thundering.

White or pink noise can help people sleep by blocking out outside sounds and masking disruptive sounds.

Research has found that sleep disturbances caused by noise pollution have health consequences for our biological systems.
