Toenail fungus is caused by fungal bacteria that grows in wet and damp locations.

When taking a shower make sure to fully dry your feet and around your toes before putting socks on and if possible let your feet air out awhile before putting socks on after a shower or bath.

This will help prevent fungal bacteria from growing under your toenails.

You can also use Vinegar or Vicks VapoRub to kill off toenail fungus.

The fastest way to eliminate a toenail fungus infection is through toenail laser treatment.

Laser nail therapy specifically targets the microorganisms under your nail while leaving the keratin intact.

In just a few treatments, the infection can be entirely eliminated.

Surgical nail removal for toenail fungus can be done for severe or returning fungal nail infections.

The entire nail (avulsion) or only part of the nail (debridement) can be removed.

Surgical nail removal can be done in a clinic or your doctor's office.

Your doctor will give you an injection in the finger or toe to prevent pain.

If left untreated, fungal nail infections can cause difficulties with walking, exercising or manual tasks such as typing.

The main symptoms of onychomycosis include the nail becoming: Brittle. Broken.

Fungal infections of the toenails — also known as onychomycosis — don't go away on their own, and if left untreated, the fungus will spread and can eventually destroy the nail.

Tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for many skin infections, including fungal infections.

Dab a few drops of the oil onto your toenails twice a day, or mix a few drops of oil with some water and soak your entire foot.

You can buy over-the-counter urea paste to dissolve the infected portion of the toenail.

You can apply some Vicks Vaporub to the toenail fungus and the Vicks VapoRub will kill the toenail fungus after a few days.

You can also get a tub of water and add a cup of vinegar to the tub of water and soak your feet in the vinegar and water solution.

Apple Cider Vinegar will also work to kill bacteria that causes the toenail fungus so you can use either regular vinegar for the foot bath or Apple Cider Vinegar in the foot bath and soak your feet in the vinegar foot bath for 20 to 30 minutes and then dry your feet off and apply some antifungal cream to the toenails.
