Insulin pumps are better than injections as with insulin pumps you get a continuous supply of insulin which ensures you don't forget to inject your body with insulin.

An insulin pump is more accurate than insulin shots, helping you better manage blood sugar levels.

You'll have fewer blood sugar lows, which is important if you often have hypoglycemia.

It may improve your A1c levels.

Dosing for meals and snacks is easier.

To remove a tandem infusion set and replace disconnect your insulin pump pinch connector arms to open.

Lift off of site. When you use an insulin pump, there is only short acting insulin infused in the pump.

Once you're disconnected from the pump, you need to be extra careful and monitor your blood sugars many times during that period of time.

Here's a link to a YouTube video showing exactly how to remove your tandem infusion set.

Most diabetic pumps should last a year or sometimes longer.

However patch diabetic pumps should be replaced every 3 days.

Most diabetic pumps use AA or AAA batteries, which last an average of two to four weeks.

Some use lithium batteries, which can last two to three times as long.

The diabetic pump works by sending continuous insulin or insulin surges directly into your bloodstream.

Many people with diabetes find insulin pumps to be more convenient than insulin injections.

Insulin pumps aren't permanent.

You can change your mind and return to injections if you don't like using an insulin pump.

Tandem does replace infusion sets as long as it's under the warranty period.

Getting into the habit of changing your infusion set and reservoir every 2-3 days gives you better control over your blood glucose levels reducing the risk of hyperglycaemic events.

Correct change frequency helps you to avoid site complications like pain, irritation, bruising, itching, swelling, etc.

When showering or bathing with a tandem insulin pump it's best to disconnect the tandem pump before showering or bathing.

People who have a tandem pump should shower rather than bathe in a tub unless they can keep the area out of the water.

People with a tandem pump are also advised to disconnect the line from the pump (or infusion bag) temporarily before bathing.

If that is not possible, advise them to cover the connection completely and hang it on a shower hook.

Or cover the tandem pump with some plastic wrap such as saran wrap.

The Tslim pump is partially waterproof but not completely waterproof.

The Tslim X2 is waterproof to 3 meters for 30 minutes, so no need to disconnect for a quick kayak on the ocean.

As summer approaches, I'm going to be getting used to using multiple profiles for changes in level of activity.

The Tslim X2 insulin pump with interoperable technology is an alternate controller enabled (ACE) pump that is intended for the subcutaneous delivery of insulin, at set and variable rates, for the management of diabetes mellitus in people requiring insulin.

Without insurance, the Tandem Tslim X2 pump alone has a retail price tag of $4,000.00, but with private insurance some plans will cover almost 80 percent of this cost.

How long does a Tslim X2 insulin pump last?

Its makers say that each time the Tslim X2 insulin pump is charged, it lasts for up to 7 days, or 5 days if it is connected to the Dexcom G6.

The company recommends charging the device for 10–15 minutes every day.

On July 1, 2020, United Healthcare (UHC) announced they will begin covering the Tandem Tslim X2 insulin pump for members on Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, individual and group market plans, a departure from UHC's four-year policy to only provide health insurance coverage for Medtronic insulin pumps.

Compatible with most iPhone mobile phones.

Requires a Tslim X2 insulin pump from Tandem Diabetes Care running software version 6.3. 1 or greater, available for in-warranty Tslim X2 pump users via the Tandem Device Updater.
